Grant Priority Area

Good nutrition, quality health care and positive emotional environments are vital to the health and well- being of children and adults. Many families in the Birmingham area lack access to adequate health and mental health services and healthy and affordable food. The foundation supports programs that serve vulnerable populations and:

  • Expand and improve access to health care and mental health services.
  • Provide access to healthy and affordable food.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle by encouraging healthy behavior, improved mental and physical health and promoting wellness.
  • Preventive measures including access to parks and greenspaces that bring people together in the community while also promoting physical and emotional health.

The Bell Center

At The Bell Center, infants and toddlers receive specialized therapy from transdisciplinary teams which include a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a speech-language pathologist, and an early childhood special education teacher, as each child works on individual developmental goals.

Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is a JSBCF grant recipient.

Community Food Bank of Central Alabama

The Food Bank works to build systems of support to bridge the gap towards food security so that individuals can access healthy food options through the Food Bank and their partners.

M-POWER Ministries

M-POWER Ministries, located in the Avondale area, provides free health care and medications to those without access to insurance and regular care, giving them an opportunity to lead healthier lives.

Located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, Railroad Park provides a welcoming, unifying greenspace and dynamic community programs that promote health and wellness and attract Birmingham area residents.
